College fairs are fun and rewarding!
A college fair is an event for high school students to explore various colleges, learn about the programs they offer, and talk to representatives who can give them a glimpse into what life might look like at that school. The Penn State booth at any fair is always very popular!
Penn State alumni are invaluable to the efforts of the Undergraduate Admissions Office. Volunteers across the country assist in recruiting students by sharing their Penn State experiences during events and adding a “personal touch” that encourages students and families to become part of the Penn State family.
Ysabel Sarte is our PSU liaison and OC-IE Territory Manager who arranges our college fairs every year. Judy Wolfe is our chapter’s Team Captain. We currently have 8 alumni who attend college fairs. Training is typically 2 hours or less per year, and fairs last approximately 2-4 hours. Some volunteers attend one fair a year, while others attend more.
This fall, to kick off the 2025 College Fair season, Garly Clauss and Corey Wheeler attended the successful Temecula College Fair.

See the City of Temecula’s fantastic review of the event below:
“On behalf of the City of Temecula’s Workforce Development Division, we would like to thank you for being part of the 17th Annual College and Vocational Fair. Your presence and engagement made the event truly valuable for our students, and we are grateful for the opportunity to connect them with the resources and insights your schools and organizations have to offer.
We hope the experience was meaningful for you as well, and we look forward to welcoming you again at future events!”
