THON
THON is the largest student-run philanthropy. It is committed to enhancing the lives of children & families impacted by childhood cancer. Its mission is to provide emotional & financial support, spread awareness, & ensure funding for critical research in pursuit of a cure. Since 1977, THON has raised more than $236 million for Four Diamonds at Penn State Health Children’s Hospital.
Penn State students prepare for months to raise money and dance for 48 hours one weekend in February each year. In 2025, 16,500 students participated, helping over 4,800 families and raising over $17 million.

Our chapter contributes yearly with a fundraising campaign. If a local student participates as a dancer, we support them, too. We dedicate one TV party in the fall to writing postcards of encouragement for THON dancers and collecting donations. Look for our 2026 fundraiser link in December. WE ARE… For The Kids!

Kayli’s parents have attended many of our chapter events.
Surfrider Foundation Beach Clean-Up

Beach Cleanups take place all along the Southern California Coast.
On Sunday, May 18, our local chapter alumni and friends met in Huntington Beach to help the cause. Joe Thompson ’24, a recent grad and new board member who is an environmentalist, organized the event.
Future events like this will be planned. In the meantime, everyone can register for a cleanup near them. It’s a great family activity, good exercise, and all supplies are provided.
